In a story ripped from the headlines, a 7 year-old boy shoots his 6 year-old classmate. Aside from grappling with the political and emotional fallout of the event, the SVU detectives must also track down how the little boy got the gun in the first place. The trail leads to neighborhood drug dealers.
A woman is raped and murdered and a man is stabbed in a local store. The detectives investigate two of the mentally ill people she had recently befriended as well as the recently released ex-con/stabbing victim who pins the murder on one of the mentally ill.
